It becoming increasing hard to blog on here due to dial up. Takes for ever to load, lets not even talk about pics. I can barely get out of the drive way to go up river to use our verizon modem. So please bare with me til winter is over.
Yesterday started as any normal day does. Kids, dogs, cat and kittens, coons, tractors and well exhaustion. I might want to add that in winter here you kinda hybernate! I tried rolling out of bed only to scream in pain that my heiny was SORE. We have had plumbing issues since we moved in. I have usually done dishes in dishpans in the kitchen sink. Well, its gotten so bad that it wont drain at all. Justin has snaked it and tried to clear it. With christmas, I asked him to wait til we passed the holidays. So the day before I washed dishes in the bath tub. Holy Moly, my heiny got some exercise. Yippee =o) I rolled out of bed ever so softly and threw my rob on. Looked out the window and seen nothing but snow. Eeek I need to run to town and meet someone that was adopting our 1 year old chihuahua Popeye. He just wasnt meshing with kids even good kids. I was affraid for him and the littles. So I did the RIGHT thing and found him a home, even though it killed me. I also realized that sooner or later he wood be swooped up my a rabbid animal or bird. So normal routine and we were off. I might add that we live on a river and the river road was not fun. Most people would have turned around. There were several vehicles off the road. 4HI here I come ,petal to the metal. Dog dropped off errand and lunch done! woot. I turn to get back on the freeway there is no visability and its is blizzards condition. We have no fear....Well, we made it home the roads were awful. Not even an hour home and we loose all power. Power company has no clue when we will have power. Trees were down and being that we are on the river and the temps and snow. Who knew when it would be up. I might mention is get dark at 3pm. here. What a mess and nerves were on edge. Coons were out visiting our trash cans on the porch. Kids running out with their air pellet gunes trying to sack those coons. Dogs and cats every where cant see them. Only one candle. No oil for the oil lamps. I called Justin to bring back ups. Fearing he may not get to the house tonight, due to where we live. He made it home. we boiled water for ramen noodle soup. Justin, said cars were laying all over the interstate when he was driving home. A couple exits before us a bridge collapsed which slowed traffic to a stop. It was a crazy day filled with adventure.
I think the title speaks for itself. We are simple. We raise our own food. We hunt (even the girl's).We have goats, chickens, mini horses and dairy goats. We fish,we wear boots with our pj's.We read, suck on straw on a nice summer day. We make cheese and butter from our goat's. We try everything once, no matter what. Most of all we lend a helping hand we we need encouragement. So Cowboy or Cowgirl Up and enjoy our stories!

Questions & Flooding
Good Morning!
Questions: I noticed that there is about 40 hits on my profile. I was intending to leave this blog open. But I am wondering if I should only allow people I approve to view it. What are your thoughts?
Flooding: Well, we have had no stop snow and than rain. Wow, the house has water coming off the mountain like a rushing river. Sounds so beautiful and peaceful. That being said. Mr. J, has told me that I need to walk down to the river and check on it ever so often. I guess we flood here. Not neccessarily the house. But the road and our fields. Which means there could be times that Mr. J doesnt make it home! Not something I need at this point. He is my heat. The kids and I cannot get the wood burning stove to light or roar like he can. Granted here we do have a furnace for heat. The furnace makes me get respiratory colds so bad, that I avoid them like the plague. I guess next year we wont have wet wood. We just moved here and had to cut, chop, and it was already snowing. eek! My dream is to have a big barn full of wood. Maybe its the pioneer in me. Or the mother, but its comforting to know I had stock piles to wood and its NOT DRY, like we have right now.
Have a great weekend!

Held hostage by MEESE!?!?
Yep, that's what I said. Most people dont know that moose plural is meese. So, yesterday while enjoying lunch we looked outside at the commotion in the yard. Our mastiff was hooting and hollering and carryin on like a mad dog. So here we are looking out the wall of windows for what was the problem. We seen nothing! Dog, must have gotten into the loco weed. Well, all of a sudden we had a herd of meese right in the front yard. Looking at our little mastiff like he was a twig to step on. We decided the its best we stay inside, since we believe its rut season. Well, I was glad that the meese decided not to expose our eyes to their love dance. But really cant be any worse the swine breeding. Seriously pigs are xxxxxxx rated! They graced us with their presence for about 2 HOURS.lol
The littles and I are itching to get back to the farm life or ranch life. We havent decided if its farm or ranch. We have ordered our chick catalog's and will be gracing the farm with chicks in Februaury. I think its best this time due too time. We tend to have longer long days in summer and short days in winter. We are looking at a couple of meat birds also. Justin has said that they are a waist of time. Well, after my trip to the store and the quality we will be butchering chickens for food.Justin, said that his extent of help. Will be pulling up a log and kicking back and watching us. Guess, I need to send an email to the Chicken Goddess Gabriel for some much needed hen advise =0).
We have been looking at other animals like goats. We have decided to raise mostly heritage breeds this time around. We are looking at KoneyKoney pigs. Goats, Im up in the air. But we are getting back into the goat milk, cheese business for our family real soon. We are looking at Dexter cattle or another heritage mini dual purpose breed.

What can I say.........
What can I say......We made it to the wildes of N. Idaho. I would consider this a cross between a rain forest and woods. Its absolutely stellar. Fog, a little mist, rain and well this morning we awoke to snow. There are tons of wild here. from deer to elk, moose, bear, squirrel you name it. We found the doll house , I think it is more of an outdoor entertainment area down the mtn settles thickly in the forest. With moss, and mushrooms. Our own secret place. One of the tree by it is a giant of a tree on it are red mushrooms growing from the tree. Its very eery but beautiful all in one. We have a half acress of strawberry fields that need to be reovered from over gorwth. Things actually grow here. Water is in abundance. We are practically water front to the CDA river. On a side note we get absolutely no internet service or cell service. I do get txt. We managed to get a land line but its not the greatest. Justin was just told that on his lunches all the techs snow ski for lunch. I might mention the town is also a ski resort. Justin was truely at awe with this bit of information. Justin is enjoying the benefits of working for a BIG DEALERSHIP. He never has worked for one. So its interesting to see where this will go. Justin is expanding from not only GM but Chrysler. I will try and upload pics when I can.

FACEBOOK and the BONDAGE that develops
WEll, on Wednesday I completely canceled my FB account. I will start by saying the my dear hubby absolutely loathed it. I felt as if I needed to keep everyone updated. I do have family I have never met before. It was becoming a burden in many many ways. I also realized alott of the post were negative. Some of my pic posts you could tell people were negative or picking a fight. Not the outcome I wanted. I heard daily how FB were selling our information. Privacey issues. And to be honest sometimes I just didnt want to see this post or that. I have almost 300 friends only a select under 5 would I talk to on a regualr basis. I realized that some of these people were stagin their lives and their selves as these grand people. And in all honesty they were not. I was pretty honest about myself on there. But others I question whole heartedly. I also realized that have contact with old friends may not be so good. That even having contact with family may not be so good. There is just too much to handle. I realized that I needed to let go....that I wasnt getting things done in my real life. That I wasnt setting an example I wanted for my children. That "Make Believe was not for me"!!! I realized that if friends wanted to stay in contact, they would. If family wanted to see picture or know what we were up to,they would. I realized that its not the end of the world. That smelling the roses was sweeter than the computer. That my life was better without it. Yes, its hard not to log~on. But I am in a much better place without.
Much Love to all reading this.

Saying Good~bye
Here are some great pictures of the area in Montana that we live. It is absolutely an amazing place. And its nice to know we own land here.
Saying good bye to Montana will be very tough. When you live right next door to Yellowstone. In a state where its predominately good old cowboys. Where things grow and the soil is rich. I have really procrastined at packing. This is one of my favorite places. Though I know Idaho will be just as great. And as the joke goes we are getting closer to Alaska! I cant see myself living where I grew up again. I know Mr. J and I's beginning started there. But we have been accutely aware the the trees are where we are happy, the country life is what calms our souls, where homeschooling for us flourish. Where we truely want our children to grow-up.

We are studying Greek Myths in our homeschool
The littles made a impromptu skit about the Greek Myths. They are very creative. Which keeps Justin and I laughing and on our toes.

Apple picking
Since moving to Montana we have realized how much things grow here. It's amazing you through onions, and potatoes in the ground and with no effort they grow. Well we went apple picking. We did get permission. It was a very neat expereience. And we recalled the story of Johnny Appleseed as we picked and gathered. We have since made applesauce, apple pies, and Apple Cider.
